My Bologna Has A First Name. It’s F R U I T Y
This is Fruitycake. You know, when you get more confident in life, you sure realize how awesome you are. That’s me. I’m pretty awesome.

That’s not being conceited. Just truthful, as Brickle would say. He knew how to be confident more than anyone I’ll probably ever know. Actually, there’s no probably about it. He was the best at it.

When you get more confident, you have less time for bologna. Unless you like bologna. And in that case? I have all the time for it. Because I love bologna.

Here in this Italy place, bologna comes from a place called Bologna. Not Oscar Mayer. Who is that guy? I remember him in that USA place.

Bologna and Mortadella are my treats around here. Don’t tell the persons, because they are vegan persons.
Here’s what I read because I can read…
No, mortadella and bologna are not the same, though bologna is an American adaptation inspired by Italian mortadella; mortadella is a richer, more complex Italian delicacy with visible fat cubes and pistachios, while American bologna is a smoother, more uniform, mass-produced sausage using mixed meats and simpler spices, often with a milder flavor. Think of mortadella as the sophisticated original and bologna as its simpler, distant relative.

Any which way, I love it. And I love it even more on my pizza? Not your cup of bologna? It’s ok. I’ll eat it for us all.

When I have no time for bologna, like yesterday when I chased after a chihuahua, grumbled at a seagull, ran to the post lady on her scooter and then roared like a dragon at the sea, I need more pizza with mortadella.

This year has been hard. Hard as Girl Person’s biscuits. Hard as cooking those biscuits when you have no oven. Hard as doing laundry in buckets.
But confidence in your purpose and your why is what matters. No one knows the purpose of your heart but you. No one needs to. You don’t need to explain it. That’s bologna. Just do it.

And when you find your mortadella, you’ll know it. You’ll also know your people who believe in you. You don’t need to prove your worth to others and not even to God. Because he knows it. He knows you. You know you. He knows your worth. Believe him.

I’m full of bologna. But I’m full of flavor. And you? I’ll share my pizza with you. Topped with mortadella.

We know many are not going to like the blog moving to a paid version. We do apologize but we also can’t work for free and it takes time and resources which we’ve used for years to do this. It is part of this new mission and purpose and a legacy started by Brickle and Digby. We hope you’ll embrace the change as a way to all stay together in a world that makes it hard to stay together. We are on one earth. Countries were started by men and those imaginary boundaries don’t need to be used to separate us. Let’s stick together and help animals in our one big world!
We also have a Patreon site for Under The Crow, which is what we named the property here in honor of the streams named as such and crows that inhabit this area. On that Patreon, you’ll get first access to hidden documents and history and a big surprise for 2026. You can join that for $5 a month as well. We know you will love it.
Yes, this project has come at great cost to us. We miss the ones who have decided that helping others where they live is right. Because we believe we all can help each other in small ways that add up to big ones. And we hope you’ll continue to support this project and our goal to Make Rescues The Breed Of Choice in this new way.
