Crackers For Your Soup

This is Fruitycake. Oh, the cold and the wind are among us here in this Italy place. The rain monster has taken a half day off today. I hear it’s a holiday. Or the day before a holiday. I’m just glad it ain’t punchin no time clock today.

When it’s cold, it’s time for soup. I even like soup. Pizza soup? Sign me up!

Girl Person made an Italian soup last night. I guess every soup we make here is Italian to be technical. Boy Person liked it a lot. And even though it was really good, he still wanted crackers with it. He must always have crackers for his soup. Just like I always need pizza with my pizza. And how Girl Person needs a bottle of ketchup with her fries.

He says that crackers just make any soup better. He said you can eat the crackers dipped in the soup when the soup is too hot. You can scoop up your favorite parts of the soup. And you can make the soup go farther.

Girl Person says she has come to accept that he must always have crackers with his soup. And she is happy to have them always for him. She told me that crackers for your soup are just like friends and sometimes even strangers that believe in you.

Some people are there to scoop you up when you aren’t feeling worthy. Friends are like crackers who build you up when life gets too overwhelming and hot. People who give you a chance to succeed when you feel too thin to keep going. People who believe in you like a cracker believes the soup gives them a purpose too.

I am a dog. But I know how much we all need each other. Especially now when you’ve got soup in one pot and salad in another. Even though they go together to make a nice meal, sometimes people only see the differences. That’s ridiculous. Soup is always at salad bars.

So thank you for being the crackers to our soup. You make our purpose feel valid and real for animals. Your words lift us up. You. Are. A cracker with all we need. And we thank you.
