When The Pig Knocks Twice, Answer

This is Fruitycake! An exclamation point is needed after my name today. I have to be the bark of reason around here lately, and I have to be assertive. Assertive in my intentions and assertive in my feelings. Because the persons sure are preoccupied and they are missing a lot. Even pigs who knock at the door.

It was a long day yesterday. It was supposed to be a day, or two days of needed rest here.

But in order to rest here, the chores still have to be done. Water doesn’t magically get in here by itself.

The fire doesn’t start itself. And the power has to be made too and then gathered up like the wood for the fire. But without much sun, sometimes we have to run this generator thing. Good thing we have a backup in case one quits. Sometimes you need two of everything. Even wild pigs.

You see, the night before, we were trying to sleep. But Girl Person was talking and crying in her sleep. And it was annoying. Yes. I said it. You tell me now pleasant it is to hear “help” when you’re laying in your bed.

That’s when we heard it. Knock. Knock. Now who in the dern world would be up here in the middle of the dark night? If you want to borrow a cup of sugar, you’re out of luck. Here, we only have the Fruit.

But then it happened again. The persons were awake now. Ignoring the first knock only made the second knock louder. So I growled from bed and Boy Person got up. He opened the window instead of going down the stairs and yelled at whoever was out there. He didn’t see anyone but he assumed it was pigs. And he told them he saw them. Then he really did. A pig can blend in around here. And they are stealthy and they are determined. They wanted whatever was in this house. They must like fruit.

The pigs weren’t trying to hide they were there or who they were. After all, they knocked twice. And the generator one and generator two? They didn’t hide what they were later on. They were broken. And they broke together. At the same time.

Seemed like things were going all wrong on our supposed day off. But Fruitycake wisdom says that it’s better to know if something is broke. It’s better to know if there’s a pig at your door. Its better to know than to ignore it. Because when you deal with the problem, it’s only then you can solve it.

When the pig knocks twice, answer. You must have ignored it the first time. If two generators break, it’s time to get a new one. And here, we are learning the lessons we need to.

The lessons given to us to make us better. The lessons given to us to fix ourselves. And not ignore it. Because we can only help others if we answer the door to self reflection and healing.

If you have things you’ve been ignoring because it’s too much work or too overwhelming, the easier it will be to fix it is now. Not when a pig knocks twice.

Now. Back to work, everyone. We have a lot to do.
