The Kind Man With The Ham

Can we do this? We are at 121 out of 200 Patreon supporters needed to keep the blog going in 2026 to Make Rescues The Breed Of Choice! This is Fruitycake. First things first. My persons are vegan persons.

That means they don’t eat meat or anything that comes from any animal like cheese or eggs.

That being said, I definitely am not a vegan dog. You see, we all have different ways of eating. A dog is not the same as a person. I need the meat. And I need the treats.

Boy Person got bit by a lowly scorpion last week and well, I guess that scorpion wasn’t vegan either.

Because it sure took a bite out of his hand and out of the week. He still doesn’t feel good. And I am worried about him. So worried.

Me and Girl Person have been trying to keep it all going. And so we walked to that Portofino place yesterday to get a couple things.

And some more medicine for Boy Person. I like going there. Because the kind man with ham is there. And when he sees me, he gives me a treat. Of ham.

The best ham there is. And let me tell you, that is kindness. So much kindness.

Because you know why? He sees me. Me. He sees me for me. And he loves me. It makes me feel like there is nothing else in the world but kindness at that moment. And in my world, that’s the truth.

The kind man with ham knows who I am. A little dog up in the mountains of Italy with my persons. We feel pretty alone sometimes but not when kindness is in the room. Kindness is bigger than anything else when it shows up.

The problem is, it doesn’t always show up. So when it does, appreciate it and appreciate the ones who show it. They are as rare as free ham in Portofino.

At this time of year when everyone has their own things to do, make them stop in their tracks and see the kindness that is you.

Fruitycake

There might have been a scorpion this week that stung Boy Person and wreaked havoc on our plans. Just goes to prove that a scorpion can be bigger than a house! But your kindness is even bigger. Thank you. We are at a crossroads of sorts with stamina and endurance. And winter weather has proven to be a challenge already.

This week our most basic, pressing need is for groceries and a propane tank to heat our water for showers and additional medical care for Boy Person’s hand. Any amount at all helps at www.tinyurl.com/2tdnecessities

Thank you from the 2 Traveling Dogs Family
