Who Goes There?

This is Fruitycake. When you live in the woods, you’ll hear many things. You’ll hear crows very loud in the morning.

You’ll hear foxes and wolves and you’ll hear all the wild pigs rooting around.

You’ll also hear persons screaming. Yea, that’s what I said.

We were walking up the path to our rustico yesterday morning. I had been very sick all night for some reason, and we had kind of a late start.

Girl Person was tired and so she thought she was hearing things when a woman’s voice was coming thru the blackberry vines .

If you know the blackberry vines here, you’ll know that they are like monsters who invade everywhere. They keep things out and keep things in. Once you get into them, most likely, you aren’t coming out very easily or at all.

So when we heard a woman screaming, we couldn’t see her. At all. I started barking and Girl Person just yelled back. No one understood anything anyone was saying. But it was apparent that she needed help. So, we ran as fast as we could up the mountain to get Boy Person.

When we got to our rustico, all Girl Person could say was someone was lost and trapped in the blackberry vines and there was a dog barking. That’s all it took for him to run and grab his sickle and clippers. And they were back running down the mountain. When they got to the scene, there was cutting and screaming by everyone at this point. This lost screaming lady person didn’t know where she was but was able to tell us her dog went off after a pig. But she had two dogs. Two giant dogs! Alaskan malamutes. The boy dog was Ukon and the girl dog was Cheyenne. She was scared and we could hear her in the distance but the blackberry vines were so thick and mean she couldn’t get thru.

That’s when my persons went into action and cut stuff and yelled more and got her to a place she could get down. The rescue mission was a success. They got the lady person out and they helped her down the mountain to the parking lot. Very slowly. Very carefully. Not screaming.

You know, I have a question I would love the answer to. Ok, actually a few questions. Why do so many get lost here and how do they get the places they end up at? And what happened before we got here to find them? How many persons from centuries long past are still walking around in these woods trying to get out?! It boggles my mind. And also, do they want to get out?

The 2026 calendar is now available here!!

Because in my opinion, the world out there is way scarier than the woods. Dangers are many. But the rewards of being here are many more. Protect your peace when the world tries to take it from you.

If you go thru those bad blackberry vines of doom with the world’s bad news, it will be hard to get out. So don’t go in there.

Stay on the path to being happy. And help others when you can when they get lost. We are all in this together.

Thank you for being part of our 2 Traveling Dogs family. We have an important message!

Imagine this…

A place that has daily, filmed rescue segments with interviews with rescues and shelters and wildlife officials all over the world.

A place that educates the world by means of social media and websites and resources on how people can make a difference for animals.

A resource of community where animal advocates can help each other.

A place where local foster dogs can have hiking days and rescue events.

A place where select volunteers can visit to help plant crops and resources to help others.

This is just the start.

A place called The 2 Traveling Dogs Oasis and Wildlife Sanctuary. Help us from the ground up today. We need you and we aren’t afraid to ask. It’s bigger than us and meant to be passed on to future generations to be preserved and continued.

Our goal, as it always has been wherever we roam is to show the life you can give to a rescue animal and live YOUR best life at the same time. We aim to Make Rescues The Breed Of Choice worldwide and it’s been our work since 2011 to showcase animal rescues, shelters and organizations around the globe making a difference.
