This is Fruitycake. Many lessons in life you learn the hard way. Many lessons in life hit you pretty hard. Even when you have a hard head like mine.
Every day is an adventure here. There are so many things we don’t know about, even in nature. Especially in nature.
The way that nature teaches you is not by words, but by experience. And that my friends, is the best way to learn. Unless you don’t listen to the experience you’re experiencing.
Yesterday, Girl Person and I were taking a break after hiking for about three miles. My leg is better and my paw is too, but I still have to take many more breaks than I used to. So we sat underneath a chestnut tree. Now, we have sat under this tree before. And we have had big bonkers dropped on us.
So I don’t know why we keep sitting under it, but we do. Do we think something different is going to fall on us?
Or maybe nothing at all? I guess we do.
Even though it’s the same chestnut tree with the same bonker nuts. It’s not like it is going to drop marshmallows on us.
But we get tired. It’s a good place to sit. And it’s convenient and known. So we keep doing it hoping for a different outcome with all the same variables. It’s like trying to make spaghetti with zucchini. It may look like spaghetti, but let’s face it folks. It ain’t spaghetti.
Yesterday, the biggest brown squirrel with the biggest bonker chestnut under the biggest chestnut tree threw one at my head. And j finally got the point. But it didn’t have to be that way. I could have listened yesterday and saved myself the pain today.
So learn from the chestnut tree. And don’t sit under one with me.
Take the hints in life. A chestnut tree will also drop chestnuts, not acorns. Listen to individuals when they show who they are, over and over again. And protect your own head.
