This blog is running on the bare minimum to continue for October. We have had a free dog blog since 2011 every day to give a true voice for rescue animals. Please help Fruitycake continue! https://tinyurl.com/2tdoctoberblog
This is Fruitycake. We had a slow day here yesterday. We called it the Bare Minimum Day. It’s the first one ever in the history of our little house here in this Italy place.
You see, the persons were tired, and I know, I say that a lot. But they never listen to me when I tell them to slow down. I’m going to start giving them speeding tickets like Sheriff Brickle and Deputy Digby.

But eventually, when you get so tired that you start forgetting things and you just don’t have any more willpower left to push, you have to take the Bare Minimum Day. What is that?

Well, we can’t ever truly stop here. Otherwise, we can’t live at all. So the persons did what they called the bare minimum.
Boy Person climbed to the waterfall and got only the water they needed for the day. That meant four climbs for dishes and laundry and showers. He filtered the water for our drinking and cooking. And he worked on a video for you. He organized his tools and list for supplies today. The projects never end.
Girl Person only walked 7 miles instead of 9 from walking me, feeding me, she did four buckets of laundry, made our meals and pulled up the vegetables rotting away in the garden so that we can plant more this weekend. She did the blog and videos too. Just the bare minimum.
You know, on the bare minimum day, I knew they had more time. So I made up the slack by barking at the melons and the balls and the everything. I didn’t let them rest for a second. The Bare Minimum Day? That’s for persons only.
When was the last time that you had a Bare Minimum Day? A day when you let not only your body, but your mind rest. Have you ever wondered why your best ideas are when you slow down? We can’t do on autopilot all of the time. Eventually, we all run out of gas.
I know we can’t have many days like that. We have too much to do and this work won’t get done by itself.

We have lots of things to get in order for another appointment with the people here at the end of this month.
And we need to show them we are serious. That we want to be here and we are valuable to be here.
But we are learning that taking care of ourselves is part of the job. And so is chasing melons.
