The Snoring Man By The Bamboo Gate

If you have enjoyed the blog this week, that makes us happy! The world needs to be reminded of the good parts of life and the good people who do good for animals and the earth! We aim to bring joy to everyone who needs it and have written this blog each weekday for free since 2011. You can help make it possible for all who need it by showing your support here!

This is Fruitycake. I love schedules. When I say schedules, I mean mealtimes and snack times and walk times. Oh, and bed time. I love schedules.

So yesterday, I was looking forward to my midday walk with Girl Person.

We walk a little on our path after lunch each day to talk to the trees and the birds and to sit by the Mama Mia Rock.

We went out of our little bamboo gate that Boy Person built and that Brickle’s leash and Digby and Brickle’s collars hang by.

We weren’t paying much attention to anything but the bees and the storm in the distance coming up from the sea. I guess we should have been.

We spent a little bit of time on the path. We found a cracker wrapper we had not seen that morning. Something seemed off.

And as we were getting back to the bamboo gate, we heard a big snort. Girl Person grabbed me to save me from any pigs about to attack us. But it wasn’t a pig.

Girl Person looked over and saw a man with his head down. Snoring. He was about Boy Person’s size and yet, it took her by surprise. She thought it was Boy Person and asked him if he was ok. No answer. Just snorting. And that’s when we both realized it was not our Boy Person. It was a man person. A snoring man by the bamboo gate.

I started to go see if he was ok, but Girl Person instructed me to get out of there. We ran to our Boy Person and told him there was a sleeping man by the bamboo gate. He looked at us like we were not ok. He didn’t understand but went to the bamboo gate and peaked around to see that sleeping man who now was awake by my barking.

After some back and forth Italian, it was deciphered that the man person had gotten lost in the woods. He had tried to get out of the river and he could not. He climbed and climbed and had to crawl thru blackberry bushes. He got more lost and more tired and soon, just gave up and fell asleep by the bamboo gate.

We offered him water and help, but he said he could get down the oath now to town. The sleeping man by the bamboo gate was going to be ok. But our nerves were not. We didn’t realize how many persons can get so lost so much here. Wait. We have too and we live here.

The sleeping man by the bamboo gate was so tired he couldn’t walk another step. We know how he feels. But he also didn’t give up. He just knew he had to get back more energy to make it. We know how that feels too.

Never doubt your strength, even when you feel your lowest. Even when you feel your weakest. You are made of power and resolve and love. Love can move mountains.

Sure. But love can make you feel lost too. Just keep climbing and trying and you’ll make it. We will too! But maybe we can take a nap first? It’s on my schedule.

Fruitycake

This is Girl Person and Fruitycake. Progress may not have been as fast as we would like with our health setbacks and mental health challenges. But we have made progress the last few weeks we would like to share.

Because of contributions, we were able to buy groceries! We are still in need of many emergency supplies, but we have a great start. We also have made agreements with numerous companies to send free products and help to shelters in the USA. We have promoted the House Of Hounds Rescue on social media giving them free exposure and added chances for adoptions. We have, for the first time in our history, provided an audio version of the blog on Patreon

We continue to make progress on making the land and home live able and safe to provide a sanctuary to wildlife and have reached out to local organizations to work with them on emergency help for animals now. This is in the works. Stay tuned.

How can you help us for the remainder of this week? Oh, we would so appreciate it. Links are below.

What about Patreon? Most social media influencers use their membership fees for their own personal needs (and there’s nothing wrong with that)! BUT we use your membership fees to build and prepare our rustico in Italy as a animal rescue sanctuary and place of education. 🏡🐕🐾

Your steady monthly support through Patreon not only allows us to keep improving/preparing the Rustico Animal Sanctuary and meeting Fruity’s needs 🐶❤️, but it also shows the Italian immigration authorities that our rescue work is serious and backed by other animal lovers worldwide. 🌍 Our next meeting with them is October 28th. Can we increase memberships and/or the amount of donations? It is so important!
