Now for today’s blog: When You Wish Upon The Bats
This is Fruitycake. Someone once said that if you build it, they will come. But they didn’t say when they would come, why or how. I guess that someone wasn’t into details.
You may remember when Boy Person built the bat-house here from scratch. Although it looked good and he worked hard on it, well, it took quite a while for the bats to come and use it. They were on their own schedule, just like all of the animals here.
Boy Person built the bat house because they were residing in the cantina when we got here and he didn’t want to disturb them with all the working going on. But even the best of intentions can be wasted on ones who don’t want what you’re intending. And the bats decided that they would instead come back to the cantina. For part of the time. The part time bats. Two of them named Ziti and Lasagna who spin around when they are perturbed by our presence.
And then, when get too much of us, that’s when they go into the bat house that Boy Person built. It is their hotel of sorts. A place they go for vacation, but it’s clear that they prefer the cantina. They just don’t prefer our company.
I think it’s ok that some individuals prefer to be alone. In fact, I think it makes them even more magical like the bats. They have to hide from the world that tries to harm them. They hold on to their powers by not letting others intentions dictate their happiness. You see, Ziti and Lasagna the bats are magical. And I’ve learned that when they spin around, I can make a wish. I can make two wishes, actually. And I did that yesterday.
Girl Person kept going in the cantina to get a rake and garden tools. You see, as bad as she feels, she says if she gets a little done on the land every day, that it will add up. We are taking the land back one plot at a time and making it for food and insects. It won’t all get done at once. And I didn’t even use one of my wishes for it to be done all at once. No.
Boy Person was building a table of sorts all week and fixing leaks and getting ready for the heavy rains on Monday. Every time it rains, we find another place the water gets in. It just changes paths. It’s hard work to keep the water out. But I didn’t use one of my wishes to fix the leaks. No.
Instead, I used both of my wishes to give them a true vision for what they can do here. To see it in their minds eyes and to feel it. To feel the power of what we can do for wildlife and animals and people. To remember the vision and use it for power and strength. That was my first wish yesterday.
My second wish was for pizza. Yep. That’s what I said. Pizza. I’ve been a good boy, and I am deep. But I also really love pizza. Even though their names are Ziti and Lasagna, they understood the assignment. And I’m getting pizza today. Extra cheese wasn’t included in the wish but I think I’ll get it.
When you wish upon the bats, you may only get two wishes at a time. Their spinning takes strength.
And not everyone knows you can wish upon the bats. But you do now. So what will you wish for today? You have two wishes. Use them wisely, my friends. Magic is found in the individuals that protect themselves from the evil world outside. Don’t judge those who choose to stay away from the drama. It’s crucial to protect the magic now more than ever. Be like the bats. Be a source of hope and magic for others by staying true to yourself.
