This is Fruitycake. There are some chores that persons don’t like to do. Maybe you don’t like to get water from the waterfall every day like Boy Person because it is a bit treacherous. Oh. That’s not one of your chores? My mistake.
Then maybe you don’t like to do laundry in a bucket like Girl Person each day. Now, she has two buckets though. We are moving up! Oh. You don’t wash your clothes in a bucket? My mistake.
Well, maybe you don’t like to do the dishes then, like Girl Person. Now, she realizes that it takes many things to have the privilege of washing dishes here. First, we have food to put on the dishes to eat. We had to carry it up the hill or grow it. And the water from the waterfall washes them. But it still isn’t her favorite chore, and I have a secret. Sometimes, she leaves the dishes until the morning to wash. I know. I know. Not good. Non bene.
So this morning when she started to wash the dishes, she wished that someone else would do them. She couldn’t ask me because I was still in bed on Boy Person’s pillow. And she couldn’t ask Boy Person because he had too many chores already, although he would have washed them. So she just made up her mind to do them. But little did she know, she would get help. Someone who jumped into action like a new employee with a sign on bonus. Like someone who was a professional at even being professional. Like someone who was well equipped with all the tools necessary. Stella The Serious Scorpion.
Stella the Serious Scorpion jumped out of the pot that had been filled with mashed potatoes.
The pot that had boiled those root vegetables to a consistency the likes of glob of goblins. That’s scary. But not as scary as a scorpion like Stella The Serious Scorpion who wielded her tools of dishwashing power stronger than Dawn in the air with certainty. She was keen to do the dishes and she didn’t want Girl Person involved.
Granny Person always said there shouldn’t be two butts in one kitchen, and I highly agree as per the screams of Girl Person as she called for backup and backed up.
Of all the chores Boy Person had to do that day, telling his new scorpion employee she was getting the boot was not one of them. But he talked to her, telling her she was actually overqualified for the job with her tools of scissory doom.
That maybe there was a trattoria in need of Stella The Serious Scorpion who was so serious about her profession that she was her profession. To chase off any doubt that dishes should be cleaned the night before and not to put off things you don’t want to do. Because they will only add up to too many things you can’t do after all.
Learn from Girl Person and Stella The Serious Scorpion who the latter was freed to live and work another day. Do the hard things. Do the things that you think you can’t do. Because one day, far into the days unseen, you’ll wish you were able to do those things. Time passes for all of us, scorpions and people and dogs. Chores are not chores, but in fact privileges of the capable who have more strength than they know.
