This is Girl Person. And I want to personally thank each and every one of you that have sent prayers, messages, contributions and those that have been sending us those good vibes! We feel the love and the support more than you could ever know. It’s really an amazing thing…to be anywhere on this earth and know your family is behind you. Right there. Wherever we are.

For those that haven’t followed us for years, it may seem confusing why we were in Genoa, Italy the last, few long days. And for those of you that have followed us for years, it was also confusing!! And confusing to us!

This process of moving to another country, redoing a forgotten house, all while trying to make an environmental difference, wildlife and animal rescue difference is not a normal thing. But as I have learned the last few days especially, this Girl Person named Rachael who was born in Lutz, Florida all those years ago has but only one life here with her name and journey. Am I doing my best to make sure she does what she is supposed to do? I can’t give up now.
But it is very hard. You know if you follow us on social media the ends and outs and ups and downs. This weekend, my shoes gave out. You provided two more pairs. My strength gave out. You provided a bath and shower, letters upon letters of recommendation to authorities in Italy. And when we had another hurdle placed before us on Friday, you were there to say this was a blessing for extra time to get things done we need to. And you’re right. You’re all right.
If you missed it, here is what I posted Friday after the immigration appointment:
This is Girl Person. I thank you for your patience today. This is and has been something we have never experienced before. We had our appointments this morning. I won’t bore you with details of the appointments, but it was confusing, chaotic and challenging to say the least! However, everyone was very nice to us in this difficult situation. There were people from everywhere around the world navigating the issue of being in a foreign country and all different cultures mingled and got along together. I was humbled.
After many hours, we were told that the person who needed to ultimately approve us to stay long term was not there. However, our case and situation is going up to a judge to make an exception for us to stay because of the contributions and jobs we have made and will make. Our next appointment is October 28. We then will get a final answer and have been extended this extra time to stay until then. We were told to relax…so…maybe we will for a day. But it’s time to work even harder to show we want to do this and that we have your support! This extra time was given to us for a reason to show we are serious and after a nap today, it’s back to business for animals and people like never before. It’s another delay but I don’t think of it in that way. It’s for a reason. We have got this far…now, addiamo! Let’s go!
When the days are long, and they certainly have been, I have to step back with my sore feet and give thanks for that. Because I’ll need long days to accomplish what we need to by October 28th. I’ll also need all of you. I do realize our goals need to be broken down into bite sized chunks. And we will be giving daily and weekly tasks for all of us to work together on. So let’s start with one today.
We need you to subscribe to each of our YouTube channels. It’s free! What does that do? Shows we have people who watch our longer videos on YouTube, showing Italy and the area, our house and our commitment to making a difference. Here are the channels:
2 Traveling Dogs on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/2travelingdogs
Under The Crow on YouTube https://youtube.com/@underthecrowitaly
Then, watch some of our videos on YouTube! When you see ads every now and then on the videos, we get a few cents which add up to dollars. That’s it! Subscribe and watch!
We know you have our backs. And you also have our hearts. We aren’t making a difference in traditional ways, but we never have. And yet, all of us making a difference together adds up to lives saved and that is our goal. Yes, we need basics to live, and to work as hard as we need to. But we have a new resolve and commitment to this. Now…we’ve got the extra time. Let’s do this, family!
