This is Fruitycake. I know that usually this blog is all about the animals. And things we are going thru. Ways we can help. Ways we can all be better. And yes. I’m reminding you of all that today! But I have something else to say too.

Happy 31 years wedding anniversary, persons!! 31?! How old are they?!

They certainly aren’t spring chickens. More like winter chickens.

And even though they may have known each other longer than they didn’t, they told me it doesn’t seem like it’s been that long. They met when Girl Person was 15 and Boy Person was 17.

They got married four years after that.

You can do the math. I won’t. Dogs don’t do math.

They told me they have been thru a lot.

Many times, they didn’t know if they could stay together.

Yes. I said that. Because it’s important to tell the truth in life. It’s important to not sugar coat the realities and work that they have went thru.

It hasn’t been easy for them.

They told me that the hardest years were ones they lost loved ones. Persons and animals. That that is what tested them the most.

Needless to say, this last year has been one of the hardest. They miss Brickle so much. And Digby before that.

But today, I want to tell them happy 31. I want to thank them for staying together. I want to tell them I’m so happy to be their family now. And this year, maybe, just maybe, we can add to our family.

Work. Life is work. Love is work. It’s easier to quit. They have not. Because their common bond is making a difference for me. And for you. And we love you.

Happy 31 Boy and Girl Person! I sure hope a pizza party by candlelight by the fire is in the stars tonight.
