This is Fruitycake. Obviously. It’s my job to write the blog now. And I’ve been doing it solo for a few months now. Although it’s a lot of work, I do it for you. And I enjoy it. It helps me.

Today is a day that many try to rush around. They are trying to get last minute things done that they think they have to. But I hope they are being kind to themselves too. Because there are very few things in life that have to be done.

A lot of times, it’s what we are told we should do. So take a step back. And think for you.

Although this time of year is hard for Girl Person, she isn’t giving up. This time of year, she lost Digby, Granny Person and Pappy Person too.

She is reminded of being alone in a new country.

And reminded Brickle isn’t here.

She acknowledges that she is sad. But I also remind her she has to keep going for me. And you too. Both of us, huh?

We had a hard weekend with our accident.

And it put a lot into perspective. That we should be more careful. And more prepared.

And if we make mistakes, we acknowledge that. Just like when it’s changing the sheets day. Sometimes you have to put out your dirty laundry. Clean it. And dry it. Even if it takes a few days like around here. You have to start somewhere.

And with one task at a time to be better and do better. That’s our goal this coming year. To be better for helping animals and people too. Losing Brickle and moving took a lot out of us. But we have it in us to start fresh.

Like those sheets.

Changing the sheets is not fun. But necessary. It’s just part of life. Things happen. To all of us. So let’s support each other and change what we need to. It’s ok not to be perfect like Brickle.
