This is Fruitycake. When life hands you lemons, maybe you make lemonade.
Maybe you make limoncello.
Maybe you make lemon cake.
But what if life doesn’t hand you lemons? What if you have to get the lemons yourself? What if you work as hard as you can, and still, those lemons seem out of reach?
Maybe you let them fall. Maybe you don’t see them until they hit you on your head.
Do I know what I’m talking about? No. Not really. I rarely ever do. And the secret is, no one truly does.
We all pretty much fake it thru life. We try to do our best. We try to make a difference. We try to love and be loved.
But sometimes, things are pretty hard. Difficult. Bitter. Like a lemon.
But even a lemon has a sweet side. And the lemon tree that Girl Person and I pass every day on our hike has many lemons. But they are all at the top. We can’t reach them.
Not even Brickle’s attitude could have reached them.
But every day, we wait to see if one drops. And we use it for that day. We could be greedy and climb up the tree. But we couldn’t use them all anyways. We pick our battles. And that seems to be the trick right now.
There is so much to do here that it’s hard to know where to start and stop.
It’s hard to get anything done fast. And then, when me and Boy Person got sick this week, wow. That hindered the amount of lemons in our reach for sure.
But you know what? Just like different battles, different lemons will be there next week. And we will get them then.
Work hard. But don’t work aimlessly. Pick your lemons and pick your battles to make the most out of life.
