Don’t You…Forget About Me

This is Fruitycake. I’ve been up all night. Well. Girl Person has. And when she is up, I am up. And I got a tummy ache. But not because of something I ate. It is because I don’t like when she is sad.

I want to fix the world’s problems. After all, I am a dog. And we try to do that. When you let us help you, we love that. But when you don’t ask for our help to feel better, we worry more. A lot more. So I made sure to let Girl Person know I was here. That I heard her talk about missing Digby Pancake and Brickle.

And the fact she was worried that she would forget them one day, or that other people would, was really heavy on her mind.

Really heavy. Heavier than those pancakes Digby loved.

Girl Person has a lot going on right now. So does Boy Person. The last few days, they have been very tired physically. I told them that we all need to rest. They can’t forget about that either. But there is no time to rest when things go wrong all day like yesterday. Because here, if we don’t fix it, we can’t survive.

But as a dog, I know when I have to step up to something besides just my dinner plate. Or my lunch plate. Or my breakfast plate. You get the idea. I know December 1 is when Digby passed away in 2021.

I know he loved pancakes. And just because we are in this Italy place, it doesn’t mean anything should change. We still need to celebrate his life by bringing pancakes to a shelter. Here? In this Italy place? Oh yeah! They should know about him too. And we are going to do that. Just like last year.

We hope you will too. And we hope you’ll make pancakes for your dog. Can we do this? I think we should make plans. But first. We may need to find a pancake pan or a grill! Can you imagine how fun this will be? Yes. It’s my idea. They may call me Fruit Loop. But I’m more excited about pancakes than cereal. I’m also excited for Girl Person to not be sad. And to know we won’t ever forget about Digby Pancake.

This won’t me an easy task for us without electric but hey! Rescue is never easy. The rewards are easy to see though. And Digby showed that a rescue dog like him can change the world.

Let’s show this part of the world kindness. That no matter where we are, we will never forget about Digby.
