This is Fruitycake. No one is one thing. Even though the word one is in there. Yes. I know. I’m a very deep thinker.
When you love someone…truly love someone…they are more than one thing. They are joy. They are fun. Then they may be gone. They are sadness. They are grief. They are the sun. They are the rain.
That’s what I think about with Brickle. You see, he was the absolute greatest friend you could ever have.
He was honest. He was protective. He was wise. He was soft. Underneath that corn dog tail, covered in wirey, not even close to soft fur, was a heart of peanut butter.
He was the coolest dog there ever was.
Then. He was gone. And some days, as much as I remember the sun, I feel the rain. The tears of missing him.
Sometimes I look out over the path where he used to walk up. And I wish for him to come back.
I know that I’m a happy guy. I love life. I love finding my place in this world and my purpose too.
Like is more than things. Life is about the ones we love.
But some days, the rain comes. And I figured out something to do. Every time, I go to the sea here, rain or shine, I will collect a stone or a shell.
To save by my fireplace and rug.
So that when I miss him, I can feel warm on the outside. To feel warm on the inside. You are the sun. You are the rain, Brickle.
