This is Girl Person. I want to first acknowledge and thank each and every one of you. Some of you have texted me or emailed me. Some of you have left comments or sent messages. I haven’t been able to respond. And I don’t know exactly why. I just know that although I feel so grateful for you, I don’t have the right words to thank you yet. I will. I hope you know how much you all mean to our family. Because without you, we would not have been able to make it thru this week.
It’s been a hard week. I always knew that I would be devastated to lose Brickle. I suppose I’ve dreaded the moment of goodbye since the first time I saw him. May not make sense. But I knew in that instance it was a love that would change me. Forever. And it did.
I keep trying to focus on our good memories. And to realize that he is not struggling or in pain any more. That in itself is a blessing. I never wanted him to stay for me. But I knew those last two days, he was. His mind was too strong to give up. And he asked for my help. And a miracle…a true miracle occurred when a vet agreed to climb up this path to our house at night. I will always know that God helped Brickle that day. Because we begged for help. And because he loves Brickle even more than we do.
I don’t know what happens now. Because being here on this earth without him is very hard for me now. My Depression Monster wants me to give up. But I have Fruitycake. And Boy Person. And they need me. As much as I want to scream and yell or go to bed, if I do that, it’s not fair to Fruity. He deserves everything that Brickle and Digby had.
I also want to make sure I let you know that I will be giving my all this week. I will work on orders…merchandise and books. You’ve been more than gracious and patient. And I thank you for the allowances. But you deserve my best too. I have a responsibility to our 2 Traveling Dogs family and I won’t let you down. On top of grief, I’ve been dealing with no cell service and adjusting to a country that I’m trying to fit in to. And well, some days I don’t do a very good job. I’ll do better. I’ll be better.
For now, our blog will be by Fruitycake starting again on Wednesday. I don’t know what the future holds. But I’m hoping Fruitycake will guide me to what this will be from now on. To Brickle and Digby…the original 2 Traveling Dogs…their mission to Make Rescues The Breed Of Choice will not be forsaken or forgotten. Just like they will not be forgotten.

I love you all. More than you could know. I don’t always say or write the right things. I will strive to be better. And to do better. Starting with Brickle’s Memorial Garden with your tiles. This won’t be a quick project. But we hope you’ll stay with us as we build and film it.

And this week, I think some flowers are in order. Maybe some peanut plants? Oh, of Digby’s wish of a pancake tree was possible, we would do that too.

It is never easy loosing a loved Beloved and they are forever in our hearts. Depression is a scary disease/ feeling and can be devastating and you need to do what works for you. Yes Boy Person and Fruitycake need you and you need you. Yes maybe focusing on your new life in Italy with your Beloved Family will bring you peace and tranquillity but also take care of you. I hope you find peace and joy sooner than you think. Love to all
This letter was hard to read, so I can only how hard it was to write, but you’ve always done hard stuff, so did Digby and Brickle. You, BP and Fruity will get through this together as always. It will take time and for you to be patient with yourself. We are all praying for you and will be here for all of you, you are all loved very much ❤️ 🙏🏼
Brickle and Digby left a wonderful legacy that you will continue to fulfill. You will grieve forever, just in different ways. Grief is a testament to fierce love. Remember that their spirits remain with you. What a wondrous life they had with you! xoxo❤️❤️
We all appreciate you and your efforts to keep us posted on Brickle. We understand your pain and will wait patiently for you to feel better. Take the time you need – we all love you and your family.
GP, you don’t need to do better or be better. You’re perfect as you are. Brickle knew that. And he was never wrong. ❤️
Fruitycake will help you through this grieving process. Some say grief is love with no place to go, but you all share your love in everything you do ♥️. Sending hugs from a distance 🙏.
Love to you, Boy person and Fruitycake❤️❤️❤️🙏
You are one amazing person! Rescues are the best ever! Love reading your blog!❤️
