The Long Drive To Home

This is Peanut Butter Brickle. I know that I’ve been writing all or the blogs the week. But Fruitycake has been busy being my service dog.

After all of these years of travel, today, I get to go to the last stretch. Where my house lives. Where my house is waiting for me. And I’m so excited. Are you excited too? I hope so.

Today, we drive from the Aosta Valley in Italy to Rapallo, Italy. It’s a town outside where our house is. About five miles away.

We will stay there for a week while Boy Person tries to figure out electricity. And water. And shower. And most importantly, how to keep me and Fruitycake comfortable.

For me, I need a cushy bed. Fruitycake needs a couch. And we need to get some kind of washing machine for clothes in the next day or so too. Because the place we are staying at doesn’t have one. And since we will need it for one house anyway, we might as well get one now.

I need my quilt washed. It’s my comfort blanket from Gandma.

There will be a lot of pieces and parts that go into my house. It’s been sitting without love for many years. And just like me at one time, it needs rescued.

I feel like all of the drives over the years have led me to this one. Today. And tomorrow, when I get to see my house for the first time, you’ll be with me. You’ve been with me all of these years. I’ve never left you. You’ve never left me. Now let’s take that drive today. Got snacks? Let’s stop first.

I know this may be overwhelming. I know my house will need work. But anything done with love is possible.

I know this blog is shorter than usual. Short like my corn dog tail. But Girl Person has to do one last load of laundry this morning while she can. And the persons have to pack up and load up for the forge ahead to make checkout time. So onward we go. Let’s hit the road!
