Under The Stars, Wherever We Are

This is Peanut Butter Brickle. And this is my first blog ever from that Italy place. Even a senior dog like me can have firsts in life. We all can.

We may not be to our little house in Italy yet. But we are almost there.

And sometimes, almost there is pretty exciting too.

We had a long drive yesterday. So today is a rest day. Well. Kind of. We need to find a temporary place to stay for a week starting tomorrow near our little house while we get it comfortable for me. I have a lot of needs lately. Like last night. I wanted to sleep outside.

Who wouldn’t want to sleep outside, under the stars and the mountains and rivers?

I asked Girl Person if I could. And by ask, I mean I asked firmly by going out there and not coming back in. So of course, Girl Person slept by me. She had a couch and a pillow and a blanket. And me. The doors were open, our hearts were full. And when the sun came up, we were still happy. And that’s a very good feeling.

I’ve always loved being outside more than being inside. I like to be free. I like to not be confined. And I like not to be defined by labels. A senior dog thing is a very good thing to be. But it’s not all that I am.

It did take a lot of work to get this far from that Florida place to this Italy place. But I remember nights when Girl Person also slept with me under the stars there too. Because you see, we are together under the stars, wherever we are.

I do wish Digby could be here too.

But I also know that I want to enjoy it for him. And for Fruitycake now. I feel Digby’s sense of humor and love of life thru Fruitycake every day.

Tomorrow, we start our journey to where our house lives.

I know it will need a lot of work. I know it’s rough around the edges. But just like me, it’s old. It’s had a lot of experience under the stars. And It deserves to be seen. To be appreciated. And to be loved. Now, let’s rest up so we can meet it Friday. It is waiting for me under the stars.
