This Senior Dog Is Going To France

This is Peanut Butter Brickle. I used to frown on the term, senior dog. Persons love terms. And labels. The only label I want is on a jar of peanut butter.

But I’ve learned to kind of like being a called a senior dog. There are a lot of perks that come with it. Beauty is one.

In France, they call the beauty of youth ‘the evil beauty.’ You don’t have it because of you but because you’re born with it. The other kind of beauty is your own work, and it takes forever.

And today, this beautiful senior dog is headed to France. Girl Person said she never thought when I was adopted from that shelter so many years ago that our lives would lead us to France one day. But here we are.

Tonight, we get picked up from our apartment here in this England place. Oh, I have loved it here.

Someone will drive us to a train. We stay in the car while the car gets put on the train. And that’s how we get over to that France place.

Then the car takes us to a place to stay in France for a couple nights for me to rest again. Rest. Another perk of being that senior dog with beauty.

I know that we are almost to our little house in Italy. But there is still a long drive ahead.

There is still more rest ahead. There is still a lot to do ahead. But this senior dog is almost there.

I know that many of my person friends are old in years. And they get labels too. There are expectations on older persons that they aren’t as valuable. Or needed.

But I will tell you that is wrong. Never let age be your only label. Remember the young you too. It’s ok to remember your old hopes and dreams that you once had.

But it’s possible to be more. Like me. If a senior dog can go to France today, you can do anything today too.
