VERIFIED REAL by 2 Traveling Dogs | THIS IS…ME
This is a real dog. A real photo. A real story. Not an Al-generated dog or rescue story. Our new “This Is…Me” verification project exists because real rescue dogs deserve to be seen, believed and rescued. Every dog we verify has a real life behind the picture-and that life matters.
THIS IS Me…Nate
This is me…Nate. Do you think that I look happy? It’s because despite not having a person of my own yet, I believe that happiness means hope. I don’t mind waiting, but I would rather you hurry t meet me! I can bring a smile or more to your face each and every day! I’m smiling just thinking of all the car rides, treats and movie nights in our future. My favorite kind of movie? A good mystery, because it’s a mystery to me why I’m still at the shelter!
This Is…Me: Meet Nate — Phoenix, Arizona
Today’s This Is…Me dog is Nate, an American Bulldog waiting for his person at Arizona Humane Society Sunnyslope Campus in Phoenix, Arizona.
Nate weighs about 48 pounds, and his friends at the Arizona Humane Society describe him as smart, eager to please and already familiar with some basic tricks. He’s also apparently quite the investigator—when Nate meets someone new, he likes to give them a thorough sniff from head to toe!
Nate has met children during one of his dog field trips and appeared to enjoy their company. He loves going for rides around town, enjoys cuddling, and is looking for a home where he can become part of the family. If there are already dogs in his potential new home, Nate would like to meet them before adoption to make sure everyone gets along.
In other words, Nate would like to inspect you, inspect your dog, get into your car and then cuddle. That sounds like a fairly thorough adoption interview to us.

The foster program is another way local people can help. Arizona Humane Society says foster homes give animals a break from the shelter or a place to recover while also freeing shelter space for another animal in need.

ARE YOU A SHELTER OR RESCUE?
We want to hear from you. Shelters and rescue organizations can submit a real animal who needs more eyes on them for This Is…Me at rachael@2travelingdogs.com with the subject line THIS IS ME: [ANIMAL’S NAME]. Please include the animal’s name, photos or original post, location, shelter or rescue name, current adoption/contact information and, most importantly, something about who that animal really is beyond what is written on the kennel card. Tell us what makes them funny, special, ridiculous, loving or completely unforgettable. There is no charge to shelters or rescues to submit an animal. We’ll do our best to verify the information and help tell their story to our audience.
This is exactly why we created This Is…Me — Seen. Believed. Rescued. Somewhere in a shelter today is a real dog waiting for a real person to notice them. At a time when AI-generated animals, stolen photographs and recycled rescue stories can make it difficult to know what is real online, we want to help real shelter animals be seen, believed and given the chance to go home.
Every This Is…Me story takes time to research, verify, write and share. You can help us keep doing that by sponsoring a rescue dog for $35. You can choose the state, and your name, your dog’s name, your family or an In Memory Of name can be included with the dog’s story as the person who made it possible.
