This is Fruitycake The Raccoon. I have many jobs around here. I have to always look cute to cheer everyone up. That’s not hard.
Especially with my fur coming in so nicely.
I have to follow Brickle around and do everything he says. That’s not hard either. Because he is always right and he looks out for me.
But one job I didn’t know that I would have is waking Girl Person up from her nightmares. I call my job Fruity In The Face.
At first, I didn’t know if I could handle the job. Brickle said this has been happening for many years. He says it wasn’t in his job description.
He says his pay doesn’t reflect that job. But he told me that if i felt I could handle the job, he would let me. And so I am. Because everyone needs to feel needed.
When Girl Person starts her tossing and turning, it’s my job to wake her up before she does a big scream. And the only way I know how to do that is a Fruity In The Face. I stick my big face in her face and stare at her with all my might. If that doesn’t work, I have to lick her very forcefully. She ends up screaming usually from that. But definitely not as loud.
Do I help Girl Person? I hope so. Do I help Boy Person? Definitely. He doesn’t fall off the bed.
You may call me a good dog, a good boy. But I say that helping others by being kind is what everyone should do.
We all have our problems and our issues and our battles. Some battles we fight from the inside. Some battles start on the inside and get out. It’s never our place to judge. It’s always our place to be kind.
We may not understand why someone is the way they are. We don’t have to understand. We have to be kind. And we can offer help.
