Home School For Dogs Is Now In Session

This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle. School is now in session.

But you’ve had enough to worry about lately. You don’t have to attend. But your dog should.

It occurred to me that since everyone is at home, even the two legged children, school is important. Parents are trying to teach their kids. Kids are trying not to listen. And everyone is stressed out. But what you may not realize, and I can almost guarantee this, is that you have a star student right in your house.

A student who is willing to learn. A student that is all ears. Your dog.

Yes. Your dog. A student that will eat his homework if it’s not done on time. That way, you don’t have to grade it.

We also sleep most of the day away, have nap times, require you to take us for walks at recess and we need plenty of snacks, which makes it appropriate for you to snack with us. If not, that would be rude. You have to know your manners!

So Digby and I decided that during the next month, every Friday, we will have a lesson for your dog.

You don’t have to do a thing but let them watch and learn. Some say dogs don’t want to learn. I highly disagree.

What will we teach on Fridays?

It could be teaching your dog about travel. Or about how to ignore a dog trick. Or how to steal that cookie on the counter. Or how to make a dog friendly recipe. We are up for suggestions on this week’s lesson, which will be tomorrow, Friday at noon ET on our Facebook page.

We don’t want YOUR suggestions. But your dog’s suggestions. What is something that they have always wanted to learn? I know it all. I’m ready to teach. Is your dog ready to learn?

During this time, many of us are stressed out. This is something me and Digby decided that we wanted to do. And let’s face it. We’ve all got some free time. We may even throw in some extra lessons for extra credit during the week.

So get ready for school. We don’t require uniforms to attend ours. In fact, you don’t even need to wear pants.
