The Crazy Truck

This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle. It’s been awhile since I’ve made an arrest. In my opinion, that’s ok. Because I’m glad I had more energy for this particular arrest. It was a big one.

There’s something to be said about respect. There’s something to be said about realizing you need to show it.

There’s also something to be said about a crazy truck at camp that turns on…and stays on for hours. Day. Night. Night. Day.

At first, I let it go. In fact, the hum of the engine seemed to drown out Digby’s howling. But after about the third time, it was getting to all of us. After the third day, well, it was getting to the persons too. Especially the persons. People would get in. Get out. Get in again. Get out again. Over and over and over.

I wondered how many persons could actually fit in there. I wondered if they would like it maybe if I joined them…

This truck was crazy! It had a mind of its own! I never knew a truck could be so loud for so long. Kinda like Digby.

I could only guess at what they were doing. Maybe baking some cookies?

Maybe trying to go back to the future. I wish they would have.

But the truck wasn’t the only noisy thing. The attitude behind the noisy truck was loudest of all.

Maybe this truck was crazy and had a mind of its own. Actually, there was no maybe about it. But really, one thing about camping is pretty cool. If you’re irritated with your neighbor, chances are they won’t be your neighbor for long! And so we found our inner peace. Our inner solitude. Even with the crazy truck running.

The truck actually made me wonder. How many times do we infringe on others when we are in our own world? It really made me wonder.

The world is busy and intrusive. Everyone thinks what they have to do is more important than another’s schedule. But it’s possible to live in peace. If we are peaceable. Are we peaceable? Do our attitude and actions convey peace? If not, it’s time to turn off our engine and listen to what we are putting out there.
