The Moth With No Mouth

This is Digby Pancake. If you could pick your favorite food, and you could have it today, what would you pick?

You know what I would pick as my favorite.

But can you imagine if you couldn’t eat? Can you imagine that you had no mouth? I can’t. I don’t want to.

But when we took care of a hurt moth yesterday, we found out that some moths just don’t have mouths. They don’t live long enough to eat. I was shocked.

I don’t think that moths get proper respect.

Everyone loves butterflies, and they should. But moths have purpose too. Moths are beautiful too. Moths may only live a short life. But they are a living thing.

The moth with no mouth really made me think about how much we take for granted every single day.

The little things like smelling and seeing and eating and hearing are big things. Some have lost one or more of those senses.

But if we are fortunate enough to be able to enjoy basic advantages we have, do we appreciate them?

I wonder if the moth with no mouth could eat, what would it want to eat? I would even share my pancakes.

Life is sweet. Life is good.

If you are here and you can read this, don’t waste a crumb of living.

Recognize the blessings you have and have been given. And take it all in.
