Licking Your Wounds

This is Fruitycake The Raccoon. Some days just don’t work out the way you planned them. Like the day I planned to have a full course steak dinner with mashed potatoes, biscuits, strawberry shortcake and extra steak for dessert.

That is every day I plan that, and I still don’t see it.

Yesterday was one of those days that didn’t work out for the persons. This Florida place gets busy this time of year with snowbirds they call them.

I haven’t seen these snowbirds yet. But all I know is that they book all of the campsites and it left us with nowhere to go. No reservations.

Brickle said it was partly and mostly the persons’ faults for not reserving Campsites ahead of time. But as I’ve been told many times before, our persons aren’t so good at planning ahead. So when it was time to pull out yesterday, and we still had nowhere to go, we ended up somewhere we wouldn’t have picked. But in my opinion, it is better than a parking lot like I lived in once, and we can still be close to our family to watch the football thing on Sunday.

I’m thinking that my steak dinner may be that day. Or maybe tomorrow. But it definitely wasn’t yesterday.

Sometimes, you have to lick your wounds. Like Brickle tried to do for me yesterday. We were waiting and waiting for the persons to pack up. And Brickle knew my paws were bothering me. So he started licking my paws for me. But I did not like it. In fact, I may have growled at him. Because I had been chewing my paws, they hurt. And Brickle didn’t know how to lick them gently enough. It’s like that with the persons. If you cause a problem, try to make it better yourself. Don’t blame anyone else. Recognize your mistakes. And don’t make that mistake again.

We are here in this place we didn’t pick until Sunday. And then, we are going to try and fit in Gandma and Gandpa’s driveway. Will we fit? Wait and see.
