This is Deputy Digby Pancake. I love you. I just had to say it. Sometimes, you don’t need fancy words to express yourself. Unless you’re Sheriff Brickle who likes to go on and on about himself.

Staying at the farm has been fun.

We have been able to rest and enjoy nature. But we’ve also watched how hard everyone works here. It may look relaxing from the outside. But to make something good and pretty takes work. Just ask Brickle.

I may like to nap. But you have to wake up eventually to eat. You have to decide what you want to eat. And I find that I do that while I’m napping. Multitasking. Yep.

But when I woke up from another nap the other day, I didn’t really expect to see a box of tomatoes in front of me. Nope.

But it was there, alright.

And Girl Person looked so happy about it. Me? I wasn’t so sure.

It wasn’t a box of pancakes. It wasn’t a box of bacon. It sure wasn’t a box of cookies. It was a box of tomatoes.

And I wondered. Now would this help me? Did I really want a box of tomatoes? Not particularly. Nope.

But when someone else is as excited as Girl Person was about this box of tomatoes, it was hard to ignore. I wondered if I should act a little more excited. I wondered if I could act more excited. But I knew the real question was, could I handle putting a damper on Girl Person’s happy? It was worth the effort. I knew that.

As Girl Person made our dinner of spaghetti and meatballs from scratch, I knew.

She had made something for us that we liked.

She had taken what was available and made the most out of it. Even though it wasn’t my favorite, she was my favorite that night. That spaghetti was really good.

Do we do that in our life? Things may not be perfect. They aren’t for anyone right now. But things can still be good and not be perfect. If we use and enjoy what we have, we will be happier.
