The Iron Furnace

This is Deputy Digby Pancake.  It has been a really hard week.  Well, at least for the persons.  Nothing much has interrupted my napping, eating or fun.  Except for Brickle’s attitude, but that’s part of every day life.

Do you know where I can send his attitude back to?

Even though it was raining yesterday, Girl Person said we still had to get out of our sardine RV can and take a walk.  We went on a dirty hike and came upon something called an iron furnace.

My only question when I first saw the Iron Furnace was if there was a stack of pancakes in there.  Because it was pretty tall.

But as we got closer, I wanted to get further away. It was dark in there.  And scary.  And I am not down for that or up for that lately. Or in the future.

Girl Person said we didn’t have to go in there. But she still wanted to look.

She told us that iron furnaces were very important in the past. People made a living making iron and they made it in these things.

It was hard work, it was hot. And it took a lot of skill. It wasn’t a fast process. But what they made was very needed. They needed iron for tools to farm and for other stuff too. They probably needed a spatula for pancakes.

The process changed for making iron over the years.

Girl Person told us that this process involves smelting. Smelting I learned is when something is changed by heating or melting.

I wondered. And I thought about it. What if persons could do that in their hearts?

Maybe they want to make a change in their life but it seems like so much work. So much effort. They know that change may change everything. And that’s scary.

Changes usually don’t happen overnight. Sometimes you have to let the desire to change heat up and melt into inspiration. Like an iron furnace, changes can help you, help others and make the world a more useful place to be you. Are you you? What’s been smeltering in your heart? Get your supplies. And start the process. If something is truly important to you, you don’t procrastinate. Where’s there’s fire, there’s desire to make it happen.

What will happen with our tire situation this weekend? We don’t know. Stay tuned to our Facebook and Instagram pages for updates.
