This is Peanut Butter Brickle. Persons put a lot of things off on their “to do” list. Whether they make that list in their minds, or on paper that they shuffle around, sometimes they know what they need to do. But they don’t do it. And the reason? I think it is because they don’t want to do whatever in the world that is.
Us dogs may not have watches. But we certainly know what time it is every day.
And we also know what we need to do in that time. Dinner, sleep, cuddling, doing nothing, hiking, barking. It is all on my list.
And I want to do it all. So I never put it off. And I am always like clock work.
But persons know sometimes that they need to cross a bridge to make changes. That bridge may be really scary.
That bridge may be high and seem out of reach. Just like the suspension bridge here at camp, it can be rocky and unsteady. So you don’t want to think about crossing it and you put it off. But somehow, eventually, you get to that bridge. And you either have to cross it or turn around.
Our persons are in that situation right now. And it is scary to them. The unknown and the out of the ordinary may be scary to some. But not changing is scarier to us.
Sometimes, a change is what you need to do. Sometimes, a bridge must be crossed. You may not walk over it fast. you may look down and wonder what you are doing when you are in the middle of it. You may question your decision. You may question yourself.
In my opinion, and it is a not so humble one, dogs have it easier in some ways than people.
A decision for us isn’t something we agonize over. No, we do it. Whether it is right or wrong, we tried.
And persons? You have to try too. No one is going to make the right decisions all of the time. You may look back and know that it wasn’t the best decision. But that is ok. Because in life, you have chances to reflect on where you are at the moment. You make the best decision you can at THAT time.
A wrong decision back then doesn’t mean a wrong decision now. Go with your heart. And cross that bridge now. You are there. We are there.
