This is Fruitycake. I’m learning so much. I’m learning how to be loved. And how to be part of a family.
I’m learning that I don’t have to fight to just survive. I’m learning I can concentrate on living my best life.
I’m also learning about my persons and what they do. Girl Person tells me that her and Boy Person like to help animals get adopted by showing what a great life you can have when you rescue.
And she tells me that I help them with this now. Just by being me. And Peanut Butter Brickle helps just by being him.
But I was confused when I heard why we are in this Williamsburg, Virginia place this weekend.
I heard the persons say that we were cleaning up a park. And I wondered what that had to do with helping animals.
I was confused until Brickle explained it to me.
Brickle said that you don’t have to only care about one thing. Because the things that you care most about are connected to each other. He told me to think about helping animals. He said when you help animals, you help people.
He said when you help people, you help the animals in their lives. Or the animals they will help!
Brickle told me that my family cares about many things. And that one of those things is the environment and taking care of it. He said that this weekend, even picking up trash in a park helps animals. It helps people. It helps people’s water supplies which helps the animals too! It’s all connected.
Never let anyone tell you that you can only care about one thing in your life. Spread out the kindness and in the process, learn more. Help more.
I may have been one out of 600 dogs at a shelter. But they picked me. There are so many things, people, animals and places to help. Pick one and then pick another. You’ll never run out.
