The Secret Lives Of Gloves

This is Peanut Butter Brickle. Do you ever wonder what becomes of the things that you loose? Have you ever wondered…have they actually made a run for it?

There are many times I’ve wanted to disappear. Like when it’s bath time. Or broccoli time. Or Digby smells bad time. Which is all the time.

But persons say that you have to face your fears sometimes. So why are the gloves around here always disappearing? What are they afraid of?

Well. If you’re a garden glove, you know to stay away from Digby. We’ve told you about this before. I understand their fear of his appetite.

And if you’re a rubber glove and you hate doing dishes, I understand why you would hide too. We eat a lot around here.

But what about all of the winter gloves? The ones that get washed, but then they play dirty and disappear. Where do they think they’re going?

Or what about the ones on a hike with us who somehow fall out of pockets and hike their own trail?

What about the ones that were in drawers but now are not? Where. In. The. World. Are. They.

If you wondered if they are on a secret life’s mission with all the missing socks, well, I have too. And that mystery has also never been solved. There’s not many times in life you only need one glove.

So why is it impossible for the persons to ever find a matching pair of gloves?

Why has Boy Person been wearing two left gloves for years? Because he knows if he buys another pair he will have three left gloves.

Do you ever feel like there’s something missing in your life?

You can’t put a finger on it.

But something seems off. You search and you search. But you feel incomplete?

I think that’s how gloves feel. They’ve been matched but feel like there’s something else they can do on their own. And in both cases, I don’t see a problem.

If we are always searching, we are always learning more about ourselves. It’s when we stop that we become bored. Unsettled. Not useful. Searching may never end, but maybe it’s not supposed to. Instead of being sad about searching for happiness, keep going. Don’t stop. No matter what anyone tells you.

You may find more than one answer. But you won’t find more than one glove.
