This is Fruitycake The Raccoon. I overhear a lot of persons talking when they don’t think I’m listening.
The best part is that me and Brickle talk all of the time and no one hears us at all!
But on the trail yesterday, I heard someone tell Girl Person that they saw a beautiful dog. I’m used to people saying that about Brickle.
But Brickle wasn’t with us. He was napping at camp. And I was the only dog there. So I wondered who in the world was that beautiful dog.
Girl Person told her my story. And she complimented me on my fur. And I still just didn’t get it. I was the only dog there.
So were they talking about me? And I finally realized that they were. And I just didn’t know how to feel.
Do you have a hard time receiving compliments? I guess I do. I’m used to just surviving and that meant avoiding others. I didn’t know how others viewed me. I was scared to know.
So now when I hear that I’m a beautiful dog, I feel like I’m not worthy. Do you know how I feel?
Girl Person tells me that with confidence is not easy for everyone like Brickle. She says that feeling your best means treating yourself the way you would treat others. So compliment others on their good points. Be positive. Be happy.
