The Same But Different

This is Fruitycake. When you have an itch, you’re supposed to scratch it? Right? Unless you’re me. Then the vet person tells you to stop that. And then my persons tell me I can’t either. So who is gonna tell Girl Person to stop scratching?

You see, apparently, Girl Person has allergies too. Her eyes are swollen. She’s itchy. She’s sneezing. And she looks a mess. Just like me. I guess we have a lot in common. We are the same, but different.

It surprises me how much all of us have in common. Persons think that they are so different from animals. But us animals know that we are not so different. We all want to be happy. We all want to wake up and have something to look forward to.

We all want to be loved. We all want to love.

When you feel bad, we feel bad. In fact, we would take away your pain if we could. Brickle certainly tries to do that. That’s why he carried his sadness and the persons’ sadness when Digby died.

I had to show him it was ok to be happy. That I was here to help the persons and to help him. And in turn, they saved me. They helped me.

We are the same. But we are different too. And that’s such a great thing. Because being different in some ways can help each other too. We can learn from each other.

So will I stop scratching? I will. Will Girl Person stop scratching? I hope that she will. If she sees me get better, she will want to get better. There are better days ahead when we can remember all of us are on this earth hoping to find our happy. That’s an itch you can scratch.
