cuddles

This is Digby Pancake. It’s true. I’ve been a little down lately. My legs aren’t working as well as I want them to. No cooperation!

I’m a tough cookie.

And I’ll get stronger.

And I’ll get better. After all, we have traveling to do starting this weekend.

But as tough as I am, I’ll never be as softly tough as my good friend Cuddles.

Maybe you remember Cuddles. Cuddles lived with our Granny person for a long time. When Granny passed away, it was hard on all of us. But especially Cuddles. They were best friends. They helped each other. Granny made her LOTS of good food. And they were both our friends.

Cuddles got to stay in her house when Granny passed away. Our aunt person moved in and took care of her. But after almost 16, Cuddles also passed away this week. And it hit us hard. Real hard.

The individuals that we love, no matter with fur and without fur, affect our lives. We have emotions wrapped up in others. Memories. Lots of memories.

And losing Cuddles this week brought up so much emotion and memories. Some made us smile. Some made us cry. Some made us know that we never have enough time with the ones we love. There are never enough Cuddles.

Sometimes, persons try to say that they only miss animals though because of the memories and emotions tied up with them. They fail to realize it’s ok to miss an animal for the individual they were.

And it’s ok to mourn the loss just like a person. There’s no reason to have to justify what we feel for our friends with fur.

Cuddles may have had a great life. She did. She got to be with our brothers Skanky and Mr. Scotty we never even met so long ago.

She got to eat Granny’s bacon and cooking that only dogs could fully appreciate.

And she was our friend. So no matter how wonderful of a life she had, it’s never long enough. It’s ok to be sad. It’s ok to feel what you feel. And it’s ok to value life. No matter how big. No matter how small.
