This is Fruitycake, and WE ARE ON THE ROAD.
Today is not just about getting into a car and driving to a rescue. It feels much bigger than that. Today, my persons are taking the first real step toward finding our purpose again.
And I think we need you with us.
We need your encouragement today. We need your good thoughts and your reminders that sometimes you don’t have to know exactly where a road is going before you start walking—or driving—down it. After everything that has happened, simply taking this first step means more to us than I can explain with my Fruitycake words.
Tomorrow we will visit the rescue. We are going there to listen, ask questions, meet the people doing the work and, most importantly, meet the dogs. We want to learn what rescue looks like here and start figuring out how everything Brickle and Digby taught my persons during all those years traveling to rescues can become something new.
And you are coming with us.
Girl Person will be filming, we will be sharing what we learn, and I have been informed there will also be fun involved. We want you to see what we see and meet who we meet. We want to ask questions together, learn together and hopefully come home with new ideas about how we can help rescue dogs be seen, known and loved.
Maybe this trip leads to something huge. Maybe it teaches us that our ideas need to change. Maybe we come home with ten more questions than we left with.
That’s okay.
Because today we’re starting.
So many of you helped us get to this road. You donated. You bought our books and shirts. You joined Patreon. You shared our posts. You sent messages when we weren’t sure we could keep going. You encouraged my persons when they needed it more than you probably knew.
We appreciate every single one of you.
Brickle and Digby aren’t sitting in this car with us today. But what they started is.
And now I get my turn.
I am Fruitycake. I am a rescue dog. And today I’m going down the road to learn how we can help other rescue dogs.
That sounds like a pretty good purpose to me.
