The Secret Of The Salad
This is Fruitycake. I’m not really a salad kinda guy. Well, I used to be. When my persons first adopted me I ate whatever I was given!! I even ate pickles and more pickles! Until I realized that I would always get more to eat. And in that case, I started letting them know what I liked and didn’t like!
You already know that I love pizza and focaccia . Who wouldn’t?! And if you don’t, the more for me! I’m fine with that! But salad? I will share!
The secret of the salad tale started here this weekend when Girl Person was trying to plant some tomatoes. She has a little container by the door she puts the cherry tomatoes in. And instead of seeds, she uses whole tomatoes. They grow good here that way!
But every time she planted the tomatoes they disappeared. Once, twice, three times.
Girl Person sighed. Because she knew if someone was that hungry to keep digging up the tomatoes she would share. And so she left one by the door. Gone in a flash.
Then she left lettuce. Gone. A carrot. Gone. But the secret of the salad is the one taking the salad. Who is it? We don’t know. They are so fast and so smart they can’t and won’t be seen.
I think that it’s fun to share and to give to others. Knowing someone cares about you is the greatest gift there is. And giving gifts feels even better. I would even share my pizza with the salad grabber if they wanted it. But I’m glad they like salad.
Perhaps the secret of the salad is that sometimes giving is best when we don’t expect anything in return. But what we do get in return is feeling needed and contributing to the good of the world. The secret of the salad is that we should always share, not from our abundance or what we have left over, but from a place of generosity.
This week, I will make the effort to help Girl Person prepare the best salads.
And maybe…just maybe, we will find out who the salad bar customer is.
