Screams and Mistaken Identity
This is Fruitycake. If you heard a scream this weekend echoing thru the hills far away, reaching your doorstep, well, that was Girl Person.

I know. I’m shocked too. But you know what? Our bodies have a way of getting our emotions eventually, whether we like it or not.

When laundry is left in the sun, all of your laundry and sheets and towels and comforters and a hail storm comes up, well, all the problems get poured out too.
We may hold things in for a little while. Maybe that works for you. I felt like that yesterday. The persons kept moving these giant orange balls on the counter. And they were talking about juice. And I was so shocked I was barkless and couldn’t even give any barks. They were going to hurt the balls? They were going to make juice? What if I wanted to play?! Weren’t those balls for me? Weren’t all the balls for me? But I held it in.

Girl Person noticed I was staring at the orange balls and told me I didn’t like them. Why wouldn’t I like them?! I just was shocked. She remarked to Boy Person she had never seen me so interested in fruit, even though my name is Fruitycake. Well, I had no idea what fruit had to do with this. Until she let me smell them.

I was glad I hadn’t got mad. I was glad I hadn’t jumped to conclusions that there was a ball emergency. This was an orange, I was told. And I let out a sigh of relief. I had been very stressed this weekend with Girl Person’s sickness and he scream because laundry had got hailed on and ruined. She held it in for too long and all the emotions came out at once.

Emotions can be good and emotions can be not so good. But they serve a purpose. We have to feel what we feel. We can’t hold it in or they will come out when we don’t want them to. I saw this happen again when she figured out I was concerned about the ball…well, orange. That made her cry too.

All the emotions are finding a way out. And that makes healing possible now in all the ways.
Others can judge us for our decisions.

But we have to know our own value and realize that all of us are living this particular life for the first time. None of us have it all figured out.

If you have to cry, scream, talk or just rest, do that. Be kind to yourself when you are going thru problems and be kind to others if you see them going thru their own. Remember that belittling others doesn’t make the problems you personally have any better.

Oranges are balls with mistaken identities to me.

But I can identify when Girl Person needs to let it all go so we can go further to make a difference.

If you have something to let go, let it go today with us. With Girl Person. And let’s get this ball…not Orange…rolling.
