In The Heart Of An Apple

This is Deputy Digby Pancake. Since we grew up in an orange grove, I don’t know much about apples. I know an apple a day keeps the Doctor away. I know how to ask, “how do you like them apples?”

I know about the Big Apple.

I went there one time.

Yesterday, we decided that it would be a wonderful day to go learn about apples and do some apple picking!

Which means you go apple eating after you pick your apples. Especially when you pick $30 worth of apples because you can’t say no and you fill your whole bag and it doesn’t fit in the RV.

But that’s ok. There’s a lot you can do with apples and I guess we will figure that out.

Apple picking sure makes you feel small. Even smaller than an apple. Because we learned that in every apple are seeds.

Which can grow more apple trees. And I suppose if you think about it, you would never, ever run out of apples. But it’s not that simple.

Even if you plant seeds from a red delicious apple, you may get a whole different variety. It’s complicated and amazing. Which is precisely why I’ve been looking for pancake seeds my whole life. You know what you’re gonna get from a pancake tree.

Even though they weren’t pancake trees, we had such fun walking and talking and looking for the best apples.

There were others there looking for apples, but I had a feeling we were picking the sweetest ones. It gave us all the feels.

We learned it takes the energy from 50 leaves to grow one apple. We learned most apple blossoms are pink. And we learned you better learn how to cook apple butter, apple pies, crumbles, apple Betty’s and apple everything when you buy $30 worth of apples.

We are going to turn into apples, I think.

Things like apples may seem ordinary to us.

We eat them, we take little notice of them. But imagine a world without apples or apple trees. Imagine how boring the world would be.

Fall is one of my favorite seasons. It’s ok to eat more. It’s ok to stand and simply look at the changing colors of leaves. Life seems simpler. Better.

What if everyday was like a fall day in New York picking apples? Find the best part of your day and pick it!

We all have seeds planted in our hearts. We know what it takes to make us happy and grow. Plant your tree. See what happen! I think it will be pretty sweet!

Chipmunks And The Loch Ness Monster

This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle. Some things you can try to explain, but there’s no picture of it. Take for example gravity. Or air. Or radio waves. Or emotions. Or maybe the Loch Ness Monster.

Or. Chipmunks.

I wanted to tell you all about the chipmunks today with many pictures showing them in our campsite, stealing the bird food.

I wanted to show you how they take nuts out of the bird food. I wanted to show you how they play and let you listen to the noises they make. Well. You get my point.

But when you are a chipmunk and living your best life as a chipmunk, you can’t stop, and you won’t stop for a picture.

I know how the chipmunks feel. Most of the time, I don’t mind my picture being taken because everyone should be able to see this handsome and all that.

But other times, I think we miss out. Things and time fly by us just like the chipmunks.

And even if I had a blurry picture of the chipmunks, I wouldn’t be able to recreate my feelings if I would have just enjoyed them at the moment.

I would like to think that no one has ever got a good picture of the Loch Ness Monster because they decided to enjoy his company.

Do you have regrets about things or people or places you wish that you would have enjoyed in the moment?

Learn that we don’t have to preserve special moments by pictures. Think about the most memorable times in your life. You may not have a real picture to hold. But you hold it in your heart.

Enjoy them at the time and take them for what they are like the little chipmunks.

They have life figured out. All of nature and animals do. We just have to put down our phones and listen.
