This Is…Me. My Name Is Zucchini.

Zucchini! Maybe my name made you smile. I hope it did, because making someone smile seems like a pretty wonderful way to introduce myself. I’m three years old, and although I’m a fairly big dog at just over 60 pounds, there’s something you should know about me. I’m shy. Sometimes the world feels a little overwhelming, and when I meet someone new, I need a little time to figure out whether everything is going to be okay.

I hope that doesn’t make you pass me by. I have so much growing and learning ahead of me, and the people caring for me believe that with patience, love, and slow introductions, I can become a wonderful companion. Imagine being the person who helps me discover that new experiences can be exciting instead of frightening. Imagine the first time I walk toward you with confidence because I’ve learned that you’re someone I can trust. Wouldn’t that be something worth waiting for?

My name is Zucchini. I’m real. I’m waiting. And I’d really love the chance to become somebody’s best friend.

Love, Zucchini 🐾

Zucchini’s This Is…Me story is sponsored by Grace Brouillette of Santa Ana, California!

Grace, thank you for choosing to help a real shelter dog be seen. Your sponsorship is helping us tell Zucchini’s story and reach people who might recognize that a shy dog deserves every bit as much love and opportunity as the most outgoing one.

Sometimes a dog needs someone willing to give him a little extra time. Thank you for helping us find that someone for Zucchini.

What Is This Is…Me?

This Is…Me is a rescue storytelling project from 2 Traveling Dogs, created to share the stories of real shelter dogs and help people connect directly with the organizations caring for them. In a world filled with misleading and AI-generated animal rescue posts, we want to help people find real animals who genuinely need homes.

We need more people to help us give shelter dogs like Zucchini a voice. Every sponsorship helps us continue featuring dogs who deserve to be noticed.
