This is me. Shadow.

I know my name is Shadow, but I have absolutely no intention of fading into the background. Have you seen my smile? Have you seen my tongue? I have approximately one million things I would like to do, and I am hoping to find someone who wants to do them with me. I am only six months old, and I have already discovered that walks are wonderful, people are interesting and life is much too exciting to spend sitting around waiting for something to happen. Although, at the moment, waiting is exactly what I am doing.

I have lived with another dog before, and we did well together! I am still learning some important things, like walking politely on a leash and remembering where the bathroom is supposed to be. Apparently, there are rules about these things. I am willing to learn, especially if you bring treats, patience and encouragement. I will need slow introductions to other pets, and the shelter doesn’t yet know how I do with children. I am a big, enthusiastic puppy with a whole lot of love and energy, and I need someone who understands that growing up takes time. I don’t need a perfect person. I need a patient one who will help me become the dog I am meant to be.

Sometimes I wonder what my future person is doing right now. Maybe they’re out walking, wishing they had someone beside them. Maybe they’re sitting on the couch, thinking their house feels a little too quiet. Maybe they’ve never considered adopting a dog like me because they haven’t looked past the way I look to see who I really am. Well, here I am. My name is Shadow. I’m real. I’m waiting. And I have a whole lifetime of adventures, affection and ridiculous puppy moments ready to share with someone. Could that someone be you?
