THIS IS…ME. MARY RED! ❤️
This is me…Mary Red. Yes, Mary Red. A name so nice they gave me a first name AND a color! I’m a senior lady living in a shelter in that Arizona place, and apparently that means some people might think I’m past my prime. Well, excuse me while I straighten my pearls. I haven’t even gotten started on the best part of my life yet!
I hear people say they want a dog who will grow old with them. Well, I’ve already done some of the growing! Think of me as a head start on a beautiful friendship.
Love,
Mary Red ❤️
❤️ MARY RED’S STORY IS SPONSORED BY MELISSA GOTTWALD!
A very special thank you to Melissa Gottwald, who sponsored today’s This Is…Me feature and personally chose Holbrook Animal Control & Shelter in Arizona because she wanted to help one of their dogs be seen. Melissa suggested Mary Red, and we couldn’t be happier to share this beautiful senior girl’s story!
Melissa, thank you for using your sponsorship to give an older shelter dog something priceless: a chance to be noticed. Because of you, Mary Red’s face and story are reaching people who might never have known she was waiting for a home.
This is what This Is…Me is all about. Real people helping real dogs find real homes. ❤️🐾
🐾 VERIFIED REAL BY 2 TRAVELING DOGS
Mary Red is a REAL senior dog waiting at a REAL animal shelter. Her adoption listing is linked above. Her words are our creative interpretation of what a dog like Mary Red might want the world to know.
WHAT IS THIS IS…ME?
We created This Is…Me because real rescue dogs deserve real attention. With so many fake, AI-generated rescue stories circulating online, we’re using our platform to introduce actual shelter dogs with real adoption links and real opportunities to change their lives.
🐾 SHELTERS AND RESCUES: Want your adoptable dog featured? Send us the dog’s name, photos, adoption link, shelter contact information and a few details about their personality. We want to help the world see who they really are!
❤️ SPONSOR A THIS IS…ME STORY!
We need more sponsors like Melissa to keep this project going! Each sponsorship gives another real shelter dog a voice, a story and an opportunity to reach someone who might become their family. You can even choose a dog or shelter that means something special to you!

🎙️ HAVE YOU HEARD FRUITYCAKE’S PAWCAST?
Our rescued dog Fruitycake has his very own FREE weekday podcast made FOR DOGS, BY A DOG! Our dream is for shelters everywhere to play it for their dogs, giving them something positive to listen to while they wait for their families.
Each episode includes encouragement, animal adventures and a reminder that every dog is somebody special. We want to help shelter dogs have better days while also helping people understand and appreciate them more.

Shelters and rescues, please play Fruitycake’s Pawcast for your dogs! We’d love to know they’re listening.
Both This Is…Me and Fruitycake’s Pawcast are part of our mission to make rescue dogs the breed of choice. We believe helping animals means doing more than waiting for them to be adopted. It means making their lives better today, while giving them more opportunities for tomorrow.
And please share Mary Red. Somewhere out there is someone who needs her just as much as she needs them. Maybe all that’s missing is one person seeing this post.
