One Girl Person Can’t Do It All For Animal Rescue But…

One Girl Person Can’t Do It All For Animal Rescue But A Million Girl Persons Can!!

This is Girl Person.

One Girl Person cannot do everything for animal rescue. I have finally reached the point where I have to say that out loud. I cannot write every post, make every video, find every rescue dog that needs help, plan every project, and carry every worry alone. I tried. I kept telling myself that if I created more and worked harder, I would somehow earn everyone’s support. But instead, I did too much in the wrong ways for too long—and I hit rock bottom.

That is why there was no regular content here for a week. I had nothing left to give. I thought I had to keep producing more and more to prove that 2 Traveling Dogs deserved to continue. I believed I had to earn every donation and every Patreon membership with another blog, another video and another piece of myself. But animal rescue cannot be sustained by one exhausted Girl Person trying to do everything. It has to become something we do together. And you showed me this week you understood and you weren’t going anywhere. Thank you.

This week, you are going to see changes for the better. We are going to find a healthier and more sustainable way to continue 2 Traveling Dogs, support rescue organizations and showcase the animals who are still waiting for their persons. I need all my girls—and all persons—to become more involved here. I need you to participate, share, comment, invite others and help make this a community where we do more than simply read about rescue. Together, we can actively change how rescue dogs are seen.

Fruitycake’s first Weekend Guide and the #2TDHappiness challenge were the beginning of this new way of helping. Each week, we want to offer challenges that bring dogs and their persons together while also giving rescue dogs a bigger platform. When you complete a challenge, share a picture, use the hashtag for each challenge and tell someone why rescue matters, you become part of the mission to Make Rescues The Breed Of Choice! Every picture can start a conversation. Every share can help a dog be noticed. Every person who joins us makes our collective voice louder. And saves lives!!!

This weekend, I am asking you to look for new ways to become involved. Don’t wait for me to do everything and then simply watch from the sidelines. Tell us what you would like to participate in. Share your ideas. Join the weekly challenges. Help us showcase rescue dogs, support shelters and remind the world that rescue dogs are not broken or “less than.” They are worthy, beautiful and waiting for someone to choose them.

We have also created a new Girl Persons For Animal Rescue shirt. This shirt is more than something to wear. It is a way to show that you are part of this new movement—a community of girls and all persons who believe that helping rescue animals is something we must do together. When you wear it, I hope it starts conversations, encourages someone else to adopt and reminds every Girl Person that she does not have to work alone.

But I also have to be completely honest: I cannot continue any of this without support.

On September 3, we have an opportunity to visit a rescue organization in the Lake Como area. This visit can set an important precedent for the animal rescue project we hope to build when we return to the United States. It is not simply one rescue visit. It is a chance to begin testing a new model—one that brings attention, storytelling and real community involvement directly to the animals and organizations that need it.

But first, we have to be able to get there. And then we have to be able to keep going.

If you can help with the car rental, accommodations and other expenses required for the September 3 rescue visit, please donate through this specific link:

We also need help with our basic necessities for this week. Keeping our household going allows us to keep Fruitycake safe, continue this work and begin rebuilding 2 Traveling Dogs in a way that does not require one person to collapse under the weight of it all.

If you cannot donate or purchase a shirt, please do not believe that you cannot help. Participate in the challenges. Share our rescue posts. Leave a comment so we know you are here. Invite a friend to join us. Tell us what you want this community to become. I need more than an audience now. I need a team.

One Girl Person cannot do it all for animal rescue—but a million girls and persons working together can do more than any one of us could ever imagine. I am asking you to stand beside me as we find a better way forward. I am asking for your help right now so that we can reach September 3, keep this mission alive and build something sustainable beyond it.

I may have reached rock bottom, but perhaps rock bottom is where we finally stop trying to carry everything alone. Perhaps it is where we put our hands together, lift one another up and begin again.

Together.

For the animals.

For the persons who love them.

And for every rescue dog still waiting to be chosen.

This is going to be a different and special week. Will you be here?
