This is Fruitycake. Eyes are the windows to the soul, it’s been said. By someone. I don’t know who, but if you look in my eyes, all you will see is pizza, then.
What a hot few days in this Italy place. It’s hard to think, much less work on anything. Yesterday, they told us, and I don’t know who “they” is that always says stuff, they said to stay inside during the hottest part of the day.
Boy Person didn’t listen though, because he had to go pick up glass for the bathroom window. And he couldn’t take a chance he would find the glass guy here again.
The glass guy? Yeah. There is only one person called the glass guy that makes glass around here. Because to gets so hot and so cold here, we had to get a special glass, and so the glass guy had to make it. That was last week. And it took Boy Person on an obstacle course to even find him. He asked one shop owner who told him in Italian to go to another shop. And then a door over there. And then find a school. And then look for the glass guy. You can’t miss him, they said. There’s the they people again.
But he did miss him. He went around and around and around and around again.
Then he found another guy who said, there he is! And the glass guy had a shop with no sign and newspapers plastered to the windows. The glass guy. And finally, he told Boy Person he would make it and come back next Tuesday afternoon. And so Boy Person did.
When he got there, no one was in the shop with no sign and no name and newspapers. So he waited. And waited. And then he saw the glass guy drive by. And drive by again. And then the glass guy walked up and you guess it. He told Boy Person come back tomorrow.
Tomorrow is today. So that means Boy Person has to go back in this heat and hope. Girl Person gets to get groceries and supplies for the weekend tomorrow. And you know what? It will be ok. We think of it as if we are able to do it, we are blessed.
Because, well, if you’re in a hurry in this Italy place, you better slow down to change your ways. There is only one person who does each job and they do it when they want to. Nothing is open in the afternoon. And the summer? It’s holiday times when they take off a month at a time. They sure know how to live.
Because how important is a piece of glass anyway? Not much than eating a slice of pizza if that’s what you would rather do.
So when “they” tell you that everything persons rush around doing and expecting is normal, don’t believe it. Life is not meant to be taken serious no matter what they tell you. Now, we may have to wait for that bathroom window another day or more. But if someone dares come up this mountain for a peep show, well, good for you. I have some wild boars outside ready to take your ticket.
