This is Fruitycake. There are many things we need here. That is for sure. But we still get by without them. We still survive…somehow. We learn to make due or to do without. We learn what is really needed and what we think we really need. And those are two very different things.
When the skies turn gray here, they don’t mess around. They don’t turn halfway gray. Nope.
And for Girl Person, it’s a hard time. I see that. I feel that. And yesterday, I also felt hurt. With a hurt foot.
When something bites you here, it’s hard to know what or who did it. Girl Person says that her problems now have to do with that Depression Monster. She knows who gets to her. But this time, that monster almost took her from me on a moonlit night. There was not much I could do but to be me. And I was. And I saved her. I’m bigger than that Depression Monster when it comes to strength. All stray dogs have a power within to be superhero’s. All rescue dogs have a strength to fight for their lives. And I have both of those strengths. Don’t mess with the Fruit Monster.
But what happens when the Fruit Monster gets bit by the mystery monster? He tries to help himself without telling anyone. But the limp gives it away and the redness and the pain gives it away.
Just like Girl Person has been trying to hide away from the truth that she needs help to help everyone else and to keep going, so did my foot that day. We don’t know what caused it…just like Girl Person. But all we can do is first acknowledge it. And then, try to pull it out slowly and heal.
But when it comes to the end of the day, when reflection is with us, we see what we thought that we needed that day was more than what we actually needed. Girl Person says all she needs is the ones she loves. Me. Boy Person. You.
This isn’t just a house here. This is a place for fresh starts with ancient history. This isn’t just a house here that was forgotten. It’s a place to be remembered once more and made better with a purpose. For animals and people.
So as we try to all get better, from whatever it is biting us, maybe you’ll have time to seek your truth and your healing. Maybe a spirit of togetherness in getting better all over the world will make the world better for us. And maybe all we need is each other to do this.
