Losing Your Tail

This is Fruitycake. Some days, don’t you feel like getting rid of something? I sure do. I want to get rid of this rain. I want to get rid of my Girl Person’s Depression Monster. And someone else wanted to get rid of his tail this morning.

The last few days, we have looked out our window from bed and wondered how much fog and rain could blanket our mountain.

We have had to struggle with our own thoughts more than even the weather. Yes, even me. Even me. And that’s why the blog has been later than usual.

We want to fill social media with happy ways to an animal’s life. We give our time and resources to this cause. We have worked daily for over a decade to grow our pages to help provide free exposure to shelters and rescues at no cost. We reserve space for animals in need. Not sponsors. But we need your support.

If you’d like to help us continue this cause and mission which includes blogs, videos and more, you can contribute any amount here. We cannot do this without you.  Head to https://tinyurl.com/Fruitycakeblog to help!

So this morning, Girl Person decided she would tackle the day. And she went to go wash dishes from the night before. Because she had just left them and went to bed.

She was washing away, when all of a sudden, a lizard popped up from somewhere. And she screamed at first because no one wants a little dinosaur to come out of the dishes at you.

But she quickly regrouped. And she told Boy Person who ran over with his hand ambulance to get the lizard to safety.

But when he picked up the lizard, the lizard decided to do something very drastic. Very dramatic. Very unfortunate.

Help here

The lizard threw off his tail. I do mean throw. Boy Person immediately said, “I wish you wouldn’t have done that, lizard.” But it was too late. There the tail was…splish splashing around. And when he got the lizard outside he came back for the tail and picked it up with a paper towel. All while Girl Person looked on in horror.

But it wasn’t the end of the drama. No. The tail had fell out of the paper towel and onto the floor. Now it was coming after Girl Person. So the screaming started again, then she got sick and then the tail went on the ambulance too.

After Girl Person recovered, she wondered why she had put off washing the dishes and how she could have avoided this whole debacle if she had just washed them.

It’s like that in life, isn’t it?

Sometimes we put off making decisions or changes when we need to just throw off our tail and run. Just like the lizard’s tail will grow back, so does life when we make the changes we need to and get rid of what we don’t need.

I recommend washing the dishes tonight. And also, losing your tail. It may be needed.
