To Carry A Pillow
This is Fruitycake. There are things that you don’t want to carry in life. Pizza…carry. Rocks in your shoes…not carry. Pillow? That’s not such an easy answer.
Let me explain. I suppose since you’re reading my blog, you’ll allow me the time.
You see, me and Boy Person have been working overtime to just live at the rustico.
When you have to do the laundry in buckets, make your own meals, do the shopping and carry all that up the mountain, well, it’s a huge deal.
When is Girl Person coming home again? Two and half more weeks if all goes well.
But even when she comes home, she can’t do what she used to. No carrying heavy buckets. No lifting rocks. Not carrying me. And we have some stuff to do in order to get things easier. And it’s not so easy to make it easy. That’s where the pillow comes in.
I’m her Fruitycake. Her amore. Her Fruity Loopy. Her bubbie. Her sleeping partner. And she can’t even sleep like she used to. She has to sleep special on her back and that means a special pillow. But the special pillow is something else to carry up the mountain. And everything that comes up has to be planned. Because one extra thing means one other less thing you need. The simple things aren’t so simple at the rustico.
But we will figure it out. We will take it as another lesson that things have to change and get easier. Easier doesn’t mean being lazy sometimes. It’s quite the opposite. Because realizing your own limitations is the hardest thing to do.
But when you make things easier in one way, it frees up the strength and resolve you have to do what you’re meant to do. What you should do. What you want to do.
A pillow may seem light to some. Heavy right now to us. But it won’t be that way forever. So whatever your pillow is you’re trying to carry, make changes, just like us, so you can carry it too.
