This is Fruitycake.
It is still hotter than a pizza oven in this Italy place. The Heat Monster is working overtime, and Girl Person and Boy Person have finally stopped apologizing for turning on every fan we own.
At first, they would only use one fan. Then they would say, “Let’s save the others.”
Save them for what?
A cooler day?
That doesn’t make much sense, does it?
Sometimes we do that with more than fans.
We save the nice blanket.
We save the favorite mug.
We save the good candles.
We save the special clothes.
We save the pretty notebook.
We save the fancy dinner.
We save saying “I love you.”
We save enjoying life because we think there will always be another tomorrow.
But no one promised us tomorrow.
The things that bring you comfort, joy, peace, and rest weren’t given to you just to sit on a shelf waiting for the perfect day. They were meant to help you through today.
Use the fans.
Wear the favorite shirt.
Light the candle.
Eat the good chocolate.
Open the beautiful journal.
Take the walk.
Laugh loudly.
Tell people you love them.
Life isn’t about preserving everything until someday. It’s about appreciating what you’ve already been given while you still can.
That’s today’s affirmation. Say it with me:
Say this out loud with me:
“I give myself permission to enjoy the blessings that I have today. I will not spend my life saving everything for a tomorrow that isn’t promised. I choose to use what brings me comfort, peace, strength, and joy without guilt. I will rest when I need to rest, accept help when I need help, and remember that the good things in my life were meant to be used, not hidden away. I will stop waiting for the perfect day to appreciate what I already have. Today is a gift, and I choose to live it with gratitude, kindness, hope, and courage. I will not save my happiness for someday. I will embrace today, because today is enough, and today matters.”
I love you dear family. Use the fans today and I will too.
