We are going on the road for rescue this week, and there are important preparations to make.

These are the kinds of details that apparently no one thinks about except me.

This is the kind of work 2 Traveling Dogs was built to do. Brickle and Digby helped take Girl Person and Boy Person across the United States sharing rescue animals and shelters, and now it’s my turn to put my paws into this mission. 🐾❤️
And the adventure doesn’t end there.
This week we have more adventures planned to celebrate rescues, the people who save them and the dogs who deserve to be seen.

Persons, I should probably tell you where we’re actually going!
This week we’re traveling to Parco Canile Valbasca, the ENPA Como shelter, near Lake Como.
This isn’t simply a place we’re stopping to take pictures. Parco Canile Valbasca cares for abandoned dogs from more than 80 municipalities around Como. They provide veterinary care and sterilization, work to find the right families for the dogs in their care, and guide people through the adoption process. Volunteers are involved in everything from walking and feeding the dogs to cleaning, fundraising and all those everyday jobs that keep a shelter running.
And that’s exactly why we’re going.
Girl Person and Boy Person spent years traveling through 48 states and visiting 48 rescues with Brickle and Digby. Now they want to understand how rescue works here in Italy. What challenges are different? What is the same? How do dogs arrive at shelters here? How are families matched with them? What do the people doing this every single day wish the rest of us understood?
And most importantly: How can we help?
We’re going to listen, learn, film, introduce you to the people doing the work—and hopefully introduce you to some very special dogs who deserve to have their stories told.
This is our first real step back into in-person rescue work, and it’s also the beginning of figuring out what the next chapter of 2 Traveling Dogs can become.
Brickle and Digby traveled thousands of miles helping us tell rescue stories.
Now I get to leave some pawprints of my own.
