This is Fruitycake the Raccoon. Just another reminder that I’m not a real raccoon. I just smell like one. And I’m cute like one.
The last few days we have been working very, very hard behind the scenes. Very hard. But when you work with love, and powered by love, things aren’t as heavy. Even when you are carrying them up a mountain.
You may remember that I told you about the wonderful people that were driving hours and hours to bring us beds.
And so many supplies like a generator, because ours broke.
Even though they had never met us before in person, they have been part of our family for over 12 years. Because they’ve been part of the 2 Traveling Dogs family for that long, and reading the blog.
When they arrived to our path, they were very tired. They aren’t spring chickens or spring raccoons like me. They have their own problems. They have their own obligations. Yet, love moved them to travel with a trailer of goodies for us to get us set for the winter.
After we unloaded it at the bottom of the path, we took it up. Little by little. They couldn’t help us carry the goods up, but they had already done the hard work. By making the effort to come. It took us two days, little by little, to get everything up. And we still have to sort thru it all. But to say we are appreciative is not even close. We are family forever. And family doesn’t have to mean blood related. I’m learning that.
It’s easy to see hate and sadness and despair all around. Because that’s easy to see. But there is love all around too. In the sunrise, in a bird singing, in an act of kindness.
Love is all around. And it traveled from Switzerland to Italy this weekend. And we will never forget it.
