This is Fruitycake. As long as it took us to get to this Italy place, you would have thought that it was on the moon.
But I’m really starting to realize what Brickle told me one time. He told me that the world is not as big as persons think and bigger. All at the same time.
What did he mean by that? I found out this weekend when Girl Person and I were on a hike.
We go about four miles every morning if it is not raining. We don’t ever see many persons. And we usually have the trail to ourselves. It’s a very nice hike to take in the woods. At one point in the trail we can actually see our house across the valley.
And at the end of the trail, we visit the sea. But in-between, there all kinds of things to appreciate. Like wild oregano. And strawberry fruits.
And the man with the bag of oranges.
No. We haven’t seen him before. But it might be because we didn’t need to see him until now.
Girl Person says that she has many problems right now. And things we need and need to do. There are many things to worry about.
But she says she also knows that thinking outside of what she needs is important. So she has been trying to plan a garden. And ways to help the birds and bugs and other individuals here at our house. She says it’s a healing house.
And when she saw the old man with the bag of oranges walking slowly to give them away from his tree to some workers, she was reminded of her Pappy.
Her grandfather who taught her how to grow oranges. And how to be generous. Even when you are lacking.
I’m not sure why she saw him that day on a day she needed to see him the most. But she did. And he even said ciao. And he gave me a treat out of his pocket. Like Pappy used to do with dogs. Brickle had told me about that.
You see, the world is a smaller than we think. There are persons everywhere on this earth trying to be happy and living their life. Ones that have passed. Ones we still remember. And what happens outside of this earth? None of us know for sure. That we do know. But we are all more alike than we want to admit with hopes and dreams.
The old man with the bag of oranges is here. But he could be in that Florida place. Or everywhere. Look for ways to be generous with kindness. Not expecting to know what this all means.
